Do I really need a bike fit?

Not everyone needs a bike fit, but many riders benefit from one. If you experience discomfort, recurring niggles, or feel unsure about your position, a bike fit can help improve comfort, confidence, and efficiency. Even if you’re riding pain-free, a fit can confirm that your setup supports how you ride.

Which service should I book?

If this is your first bike fit with me, a Full Bike Fit is the best place to start. If you’ve already had a fit with me and need refinements or changes, a Return Fit or Follow-Up Session may be more suitable. If you’re unsure, I’m always happy to help you decide.

Is bike fitting only for experienced cyclists?

No. I work with riders of all levels, from beginners to experienced cyclists. Bike fitting isn’t about riding fast. It’s about being comfortable, supported, and confident on the bike you ride.

Is there a minimum level of fitness or flexibility?

No. I fit riders of all abilities and flexibility levels. Your current movement, comfort, and limitations are part of the process, not something you need to “fix” beforehand.

How long does a bike fit take?

A Full Bike Fit typically lasts 2.5 - 3 hours. This allows time for assessment, discussion, adjustments, and riding feedback without rushing. Other sessions vary in length depending on their purpose.

What should I bring to my bike fit?
Please bring:
  • Your bike

  • Cycling shoes

  • Shorts or bibs you normally ride in

  • Any relevant equipment you regularly use

If you’re unsure about anything, feel free to ask beforehand.
What happens during a bike fit?

Each session starts with a discussion about your riding, goals, and any issues you’re experiencing. I assess how you move on and off the bike, make adjustments gradually, and use both experience and data to guide decisions, a collaborative process.

Will you change my position a lot?

Not always. Some riders need small adjustments, others need more significant changes. My aim is to make changes that improve comfort and support how you ride, not to force you into a specific position.

Will a bike fit fix pain or discomfort?

Many riders experience improvements in comfort after a bike fit, but I don’t guarantee the complete removal of pain. Discomfort can have multiple causes, and part of my role is helping identify whether bike setup is likely to be contributing.

How long does it take to feel the benefits?

Some riders notice changes immediately, while others need a few rides to adapt. It’s normal for your body to take time to settle into a new position, especially if changes are significant.

Do you offer follow-up sessions?

Yes. All full bike fits include a follow-up session to fine-tune your position after you’ve had time to ride and settle into the changes.
If further adjustments are needed beyond that, additional follow-up sessions are available and can be booked separately.

What if something doesn’t feel right after the fit?

That’s not uncommon. I encourage riders to get in touch if they have concerns after a fit. Follow-up sessions exist for this reason, and adjustments are often part of the process.

What bikes do you fit?

I work with mainly with road and gravel  bikes.

In some cases, I can also make exceptions for TT bikes, or help set up clip-on TT bars on a road bike - if this is something you’re considering, please get in touch before booking.

I can also set a riding position on the fit jig, which can usually be replicated on indoor smart bikes.

Where are you based?

I’m based out of Moonglu at 57 Blossomgate, Ripon, North Yorkshire, HG4 2AN.

There is no parking available directly at the shop, but the nearby Tesco car park can be used. Please note that parking there is pay and display.

How do rescheduling and cancellations work?

I understand that plans can change. To keep availability fair for all riders, I use the following cancellation policy:

  • More than 48 hours’ notice: free cancellation or reschedule

  • 48–24 hours’ notice: 50% of the fit fee is non-refundable

  • Less than 24 hours’ notice or no-show: the full fee is non-refundable

This is because each fit appointment is a dedicated 2–3 hour slot that can’t be filled at short notice.

How do I pay?

Payment details are handled during the booking process. If you have any questions about payment, feel free to get in touch beforehand.
